WIP Thousand Son Daemon Prince

#1  Postby Wraithlord » Wed Aug 02, 2006 3:34 pm

I decided I wanted to completely reposition the 40K daemon prince model and wanted to have him standing more upright if I could, presumably with a dead enemy of some kind beneath his feet. So the following pics show what I have come up with so far.

Keep in mind that there is going to be quite a fair bit of greenstuff on this model. The right shoulder pad is not on yet simply because I plan on using gs to model the Tson dead fish icon on it that comes the metal Tson shoulder pad. Also, I am planning on filling in the small lines in the wings to make them smoother, add a loincloth of some sort, have a bit of gs in the shape of a flame connected with a clear plastic base rod to the left hand and, obviously, fill in gaps and such to make it look like a proper model and not one so obviously cut to pieces.

Comments are welcome as are any questions

I love it, except for the poor Shas'ui who had to die to make it look so cool. Ah well, as they say, its all "For the Greater Good"

looks sharp. One of the better Daemon princes I've seen.
Some green stuff and some paint and it will look really good.
post more pics in the future as progress is made.

Well I entered this conversion in a conversion contest here at the local GW on Saturday. Conversions only, no paint allowed. Came out in the top spot. I will take some pics shortly of the current state it is in now that it has some greenstuff on it and post them here for you guys to see.

Here is a pic of it with some of the greenstuff done. Can anyone find the symbol of Tzeentch in there? :D

Like it!

think in place of the Sword, it might have looked cooler (if just fluffy!) with a big ass stave of some kind.

Know what I mean? Some kind of glowy staff with a twisting thingie down it.

Course - I just built mine to look as evil and sword wavy as possible, so what do I know?

Heh, since you mention it Chunky, a buddy of mine has the staff from the Lord of Change (he thinks) and I am going to swap him for it. Then, I am going to join the sword blade to the staff, still point down but grounded this time, which should give the Tzeentch look a bit more prominence.

That'll look sweet indeed.

Mine has a victory roster of 4:1:1 at the moment, so it's bringing me luck I think.

He is normally kitted out with Beserker Glaive, Daemonic Stature, F. Charge, Essence and Daemon Armour.

NOT a nice combo. He's also never been killed since fielding him..

Lol, one of my regular opponents uses a Glaive Prince very similar to that and he has yet to live long enough to reach my lines

Played with him again tonight - only 1 wound out of 4, so victorious again!

Glaive Prince seems to be giving me luck.

Update

Here are a couple of pics showing the progress of the paint. The first pic is after 3 successive coats to get the basic blue colour I like to start from in order to highlight up to the final layer. The second pic is the finished blue armour and the banding picked out in Tin Bitz in preparation for further paint.

The face was going to be the same colour as the armour but I have decided to go in a different direction with the skin areas.

Update part 2

The skin is now 3 coats in with substantially more to go. The eventual finished product will be almost a full flesh or pallid flesh tone with a hint of blue to show the blending of the skin and armour. Horns and claws will go slightly different with Bleached Bone being added in successive layers. At least, that is the hope :D

Image

One thing I wouldn't mind getting a little feedback on is the scales on the wings (near the upper claw and such). What colours would you guys go with that? A different shade of blue to blend in a bit or a total contrast of somekind? And if so, what kind of contrast?
